Overcoming Challenges as a Team: Students of the School of Foreign Languages Present Innovative Projects for Companies

Following an established tradition, the HSE School of Foreign Languages held a pre-New Year poster session, during which fourth-year undergraduate students of the Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication programme defended their practice-oriented projects. The assessment panel included representatives of major companies and organisations. Working together with HSE students, they shared their professional experience, skills, and expertise.

School Students Master Communication with GigaChat at HSE and Sber Hackathon

In late December 2025, a unique competition was held at HSE University where participants solved challenges not by writing code, but solely by interacting with Sber’s GigaChat artificial intelligence model. The Improm(p)tu hackathon was an experiment less about programming skills than a new form of literacy: the ability to work effectively with AI by translating complex problems into a language neural networks can understand.

HSE University recently participated in a key 2025 gaming industry event, the Moscow International Video Games Week (MIVGW). HSE MIEM took part in several formats, hosting an open day for its online Master’s programme ‘Digital Engineering for Computer Games’ and a workshop ‘Gamedev Automation: How AI is Changing the Approach to Virtual Simulation Design.’ Furthermore, the ‘Game Engineering and Interactive Systems’ workshop and indie studio Bear Head Studio showcased their new game engine—the Claw Engine—at the exhibition area at Skolkovo. Experts of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science joined in panel discussions.

‘India Can Be Very Colourful and Festive’

HSE University's Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs hosted a celebration of the Indian holiday Diwali, which symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Guests were immersed in the authentic atmosphere of India, learning about Diwali’s traditions and symbols, participating in national dances, and taking part in mehendi workshops, rangoli art with rice, and paper lanterns making. The event was organised as part of the ‘Holidays of the Peoples of the East’ project.

Clouds Are Closer Than They Appear: Results of iFORA Foresight Session

Management intellectualisation, synergy with AI, and the transition to microclouds are expected to be the main trends in the digital economy over the next decade. Experts in cloud technologies gathered at HSE University for a foresight session to discuss these trends and their evolution up to 2040. They explored how process intellectualisation would develop, as well as ideas for storing data in space to minimise environmental impact.

On October 22, 2025, HSE University hosted an open meeting with representatives of the Chinese news agency Xinhua, led by Sun Zhiping, Chief of Staff to the Director General. Participants discussed current challenges in journalism and the operational specifics of news agencies in today’s media landscape. Many students took the opportunity to ask questions and practise speaking Mandarin. The visit was organised by the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs in collaboration with the HSE Institute of Media and the TASS news agency.

HSE Participates in Conference on International Exchange of Professionals in China

From October 21 to 24, 2025, the 23rd Conference on International Exchange of Professionals took place in Shanghai and Beijing, bringing together more than 7,000 scientists and experts from around the world. HSE University was represented by Ivan Arzhantsev, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, and Vasily Gromov, Head of the Laboratory for Semantic Analysis of the Centre for Language and Semantic Technologies.

During the panel discussion 'Horizons of the Future: Trends, Challenges, and Scenarios,' organised by the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK), researchers explored the role of foresight and big data analysis in shaping visions of the future and identifying global megatrends that will drive the world’s development in the coming decades.
