HSE University Launches New Master’s Programme in Chemistry
In 2023, the first Master's programme 'Chemistry of Molecular Systems and Materials' at the HSE Faculty of Chemistry will enrol students. Half of the study time will be devoted to research projects in the field of modern fundamental and applied research on the topics studied at five institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Dmitrii Roitershtein, Academic Supervisor of the programme and Associate Professor at the Joint Department of Organic Chemistry with the RAS Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry, spoke about the programme to the HSE News Service.

In her four years at HSE University, Anna Ivanova has gone from teaching freshman classes to conducting an original course on autobiographical memory. She devotes a great deal of time to teaching while also finishing her dissertation and seeing patients as a practicing psychologist. In this interview with HSE University Agemates, Ms. Ivanova spoke about gender studies, her first impressions of her department, and the benefits of general education courses.

Meta-analysis Links Benevolent Sexism to Violence against Women
HSE researchers Elena Agadullina, Andrey Lovakov, Maryana Balezina and Olga Gulevich examined the potential links between different types of sexism – hostile and benevolent – and the likelihood of supporting or practicing violence against women. The authors conducted a meta-analysis of academic literature to find out how sexist attitudes can contribute to violence.

Vedomosti Becomes Industrial Partner of the HSE Institute of Media
HSE University and the business daily Vedomosti (Business News Media JSC) have signed a cooperation agreement within the framework of the Contemporary Journalism Master's programme. Students from the HSE Institute of Media will complete internships in the editorial office of Vedomosti. They will also study ‘Business Journalism Formats’, a course which will help consolidate their knowledge on the genres and formats of modern economic media.

He is carrying out research on the ancient roots of corruption that influence its prevalence in different countries. The HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences and the School of Economics at Shanghai University have co-organised the First Sino-Russian Workshop on ‘Economic Performance from Regional Aspects’. The researchers discussed how they detected and assessed the effects of different economic policies in Russia and China at a regional level.

He said that HSE University’s history was impressive for its swiftness—in just three decades, it has become one of Russia’s best and largest universities, joined the international academic community, achieved good rankings, and is now successfully competing for talent globally.
