Summer School ‘Law in Russia: National Aspects’ Held at HSE Nizhny Novgorod
The Summer School ‘Law in Russia: National Aspects’ was held at HSE Nizhny Novgorod on July 17-28. Students from HSE Nizhny Novgorod and the Southwest University of Political Science and Law (Chongqing, China) took part in the event. For two weeks the international participants studied the basics of Russian language, law, and management.
A rich cultural programme was prepared for the students: the participants of the summer school visited Vladimir, Suzdal, Gorodets, Semenov, and got to know more about the sights of Nizhny Novgorod.
‘We are glad that the students of the Southwest University of Political Science and Law are interested in our school. This year 11 students came to our university to learn more about Russian culture, law and language. I hope that this good tradition will be further developed’, says Olga Berzin, Professor at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.
‘The Russian- Chinese summer school, which is regularly organized at HSE Nizhny Novgorod, is a great experience not only for international participants, but also for HSE students. Students get the opportunity to learn a lot about a new culture, to practice their English and Chinese as well as to make new friends!’ says Evgeniia Riabinina, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law.

The students really liked staying here; I think they will miss local life and our delicious, healthy food. I hope to see them again!’

ICEF International Summer School 2026 Brings Together Students from Partner Universities
From July 5 to 15, 2026, HSE ICEF hosted its Second International Summer School in Economics and Finance, welcoming students from partner universities around the world. At the beginning of July 2026, students from the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs took part in the Summer School on International Relations organised by Fudan University (China), one of the leading international educational programmes in this field. Over the course of two weeks, they explored contemporary approaches to global governance and the development of the Global South, attended lectures by renowned scholars from around the world, and discussed current international issues with fellow students from across the globe.
HSE University Holds Its First Summer School in Svalbard
The Centre for Interdisciplinary Arctic Studies at the Institute for Economics of Natural Resources and Climate Change organised HSE University's first summer school on international relations in the Svalbard archipelago. Alongside lectures and fieldwork, 14 participants from Russia and South Korea developed practical solutions for implementing multilateral cooperation projects in the Arctic.
Cardiogenetics of the Future: Sequencing Helps Treat Heart Disease
Future cardiologists, geneticists, and IT specialists gathered at HSE University to learn how to 'read' DNA for diagnosing cardiovascular diseases. They explored modern sequencing methods and the complexities of working with digital twins of cardiac patients.
Early-Career Researchers Discuss Cooperation between Russia and Arab States
HSE University has hosted a conference entitled ‘Russia—The Arab World: Digital Future and Youth Cooperation,’ organised by the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs (WEIA). The meeting took place in the run-up to the first Russian–Arab summit, due to be held in Moscow on October 15, 2025.
Archival Impulse: Dubna Hosts Summer School Organised by HSE University and JINR
The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna hosted the Archival Impulse Summer School, co-organised by JINR physicists, historians from the HSE Faculty of Humanities, and staff from the Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ARAS). This first archival summer school continued the joint initiative of HSE University and JINR to examine and preserve the unique historical legacy of physicists.
HSE Shares Its Experience of Urban Strategies at International Summer School in China
In the context of intensifying global geopolitical and technological competition, leading Chinese educational institutions—Zhejiang International Studies University and Peking University—organised an International Summer School. Their joint programme focused on studying global, regional, and urban development strategies. The HSE Faculty of Urban and Regional Development took part in this event.
HSE GSB and Alfa-Bank Host Summer School for Chinese Students
The international summer school Digital Product Management, a joint educational project by the HSE Graduate School of Business (HSE GSB) and Alfa-Bank, brought together over 30 students from leading Chinese universities.
HSE University Students and Postgraduates Take Part in Peking University International Summer School
In July 2025, Peking University hosted its annual Quantum Molecular Dynamics Summer School, which has moved onto an international stage. Its first foreign guests were students and postgraduates from the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM). They took part in an extensive academic programme and had the opportunity to visit a laboratory that works with optoelectronic materials and energy devices.
‘Student Ideas Shed Light on Key Challenges for Urban Development’
The first international joint summer school of the Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urbanism (GSU) at both the HSE Faculty of Urban and Regional Development and Brest State Pushkin University (BrSU), hosted by BrSU, has come to a close. The programme focused on studying buffer zones along the railway lines encircling the city centre. Participants included students from the GSU’s Urban Planning degree programme, as well as students from BrSU and Brest State Technical University.
