
HSE Students of Asian and African Studies Accompany Foreign Delegations at the Anniversary Victory Day Parade
In early May 2025, official delegations from across the globe arrived in Moscow to celebrate the anniversary of Victory Day. Volunteers were enlisted to welcome and accompany these distinguished guests. Among the volunteers were students from the bachelor’s programme in Asian and African Studies at the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs (WEIA): Natalya Kulakova (third-year student), Polina Slobodenko (first-year student), and Anton Klyuev, a 2024 graduate of the same programme and Visiting Lecturer at HSE’s School of Asian Studies.

HSE Business Club in China: Student Entrepreneurs Travel to the Economic Hub of Asia
HSE Business Club organised a unique trip to China for the Russian student entrepreneurial community. As part of their business mission, participants held a series of meetings with representatives from leading universities, entrepreneurs, and top managers of both national and international companies. They explored the specific features of the Chinese business landscape and gained valuable insights into the workings of one of the world's key economic centres.

Inter Football Cup: Sport, Friendship, HSE!
On May 18, 2025, HSE University hosted the Inter Football Cup. For the third year in a row HSE students and staff from different countries took part in the event. This tournament has become a real celebration not only for football fans, but also for anyone looking to meet new people and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of friendship and unity.

International Partners' Week Starts at HSE University–St Petersburg
HSE University–St Petersburg has launched International Partners' Week, which brings together more than 100 representatives of leading global universities. The grand opening ceremony took place on May 20 in the new HSE building on Vasilievsky Island.

Showcasing the Diversity of African Heritage at HSE University–St Petersburg
On April 26, HSE University–St Petersburg held the African Festival. Currently, there are more than 100 students from 20 African countries at the university, most of whom showed up for the first festival of its kind this April. HSE's African students proudly presented their traditions, cultural values, vibrant dances, and unique landmarks of their countries. It was an unforgettable journey into the colourful culture and multifaceted heritage of Africa.

‘Feel the Atmosphere of Different Cultures’: HSE University Holds Oriental Crazy Day
On May 17, the eleventh Oriental Crazy Day, organised by the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, took place at the HSE Cultural Centre. Anyone interested in Asian Studies, culture and languages, as well as admission to HSE University could take part in the event. Students and teachers of the university prepared master classes, quizzes and contests, K-pop dancing and kabuki theatre, Asian songs and poetry for all the participants.

First Lady of Brazil Visits HSE University
On May 7, Janja Lula da Silva—the First Lady of Brazil and a prominent advocate for sustainable development who initiated the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty—visited HSE University. She held a meeting with HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov, where they explored promising avenues for strengthening Russia–Brazil collaboration in science and education. HSE University also hosted a round table discussion titled ‘The Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty as a Key to Modern International Cooperation,’ featuring Janja Lula da Silva as a distinguished guest.

HSE RUN Cultural and Historical Quest to Take Place in Moscow on April 27
HSE RUN is a traditional HSE cultural and historical quest around Moscow organised by Ingroup StS, the university’s oldest student group. This year marks the 29th time the event is being held. The quest is conducted in both Russian and English. Teams of two to six people will set off on an exciting journey through the capital.

HSE University–St Petersburg Holds Fair of Nationalities of Russia
The HSE building on Kantemirovskaya Street hosted a fair that brought together representatives of various nationalities of Russia. Dagestanis, Komi-Permyaks, ethnic Russians, Yakuts, Nenets, and Pomors presented their native land, showcased national dishes, organised workshops, and performed a concert programme.

Inclusive Exhibition about Special Listening Unit Opens at HSE Ahead of Victory Day
On April 16, 2025, the HSE Cultural Centre hosted the opening of the tactile and inclusive exhibition ‘Touch the History of Victory.’ The event is part of the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, announced by the President of Russia, and commemorates the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). The exhibition was developed by Vladimir Malyuchkov, a second-year master's student at the HSE Faculty of Creative Industries.
