Profile
Iain’s research is all about the politics of global governance.
He is mainly interested in the political rhetoric that connects the speech acts of policymakers, who represent Russia and Western polities, with the content of documents of the contemporary international order, beginning with the United Nations Charter. Through a close study of this rhetoric, he looks to identify the political character of ideas, conflicts and failures in practices of global governance for contributions to debates on the theory of international relations. The period covered in Iain’s research is from the 1990s to the present.
He is available for BA, MA and PhD thesis supervision (in English) on topics related to the politics of Russia’s international relationships of global governance.

On Wednesday, 15 December 2021, The Department of International Relations and International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism of National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University) heldthe thirtieth session of Eurasian Online Seminarin the form of discussion panel.
